Open Door
Here we are back in Mexico again! Our year in the U.S. seemed to just fly by. We visited about 50 churches, two camps, and three conferences, plus other family reunions and get-togethers. And we still weren't able to see everyone who partners with us through their prayers and support.
We are happy to be back "home", and it's nice to be getting settled in and back doing the job I most enjoy: teaching Bible and Theology. Though, to be honest, saying goodbye to family and friends in the U.S. seems to get harder every time (this is our third). For the first time I was thinking to myself that if God hadn't called us, I sure wouldn't be doing this. Is that too honest?
Yet, God seemed to make it clearer than ever that He wanted us back here, and right now. For one thing, the financial door of Faith Promises opened rather miraculously at the last possible moment. At the end of June our support was still less than 80%. One month later, after much prayer and prayer requests, we were at 100% and had a green light from headquarters. I don't put everything into open or closed doors, but this sure was a confirmation of the vision I felt God had already given us for this next term in Mexico.
So, when God calls (or gives a vision) and then opens the door, what's a guy to do? You just walk through the door knowing that there is no better place to be in the world than where God wants you. I sure miss my family, my quiet country Michigan home, and my chocolate chip cookie dough blizzards. But there's no place I'd rather be than on this side of God's open door to Mexico. Besides, I was really getting hungry for a "real" Mexican taco!
